Former soccer star David Beckham is taking legal action against actor Mark Wahlberg, who was once his friend and neighbor. The issue is over a large sum of money lost in a business deal.
Reports say Beckham felt misled by Wahlberg during their work together. Beckham has accused Wahlberg’s fitness company F45 Training of wrongful conduct.
Last year, Beckham’s company DB Ventures Ltd began suing F45 Training. At first, Beckham filed the case along with golfer Greg Norman, but a judge told them to present their cases separately.
Beckham and Norman claimed they were misled by Wahlberg to work as promoters for F45. Another separate case targets Wahlberg’s investment firm and the founders of F45.
Beckham says he lost over 8.5 million pounds when promised stocks were withheld before the share prices dropped greatly. Meanwhile, Wahlberg and the other defendants deny the claims and want the lawsuit dismissed. They say Beckham’s company is blaming others instead of taking responsibility.
Beckham had previously promoted F45 on Instagram but has since deleted those posts. The two were neighbors when Beckham moved to Beverly Hills in 2007.
In other news, Beckham’s wife Victoria recently celebrated her 50th birthday with family and celebrity friends like the Spice Girls in London.
