In the upcoming movie “Joker: Folie à Deux,” we’ll see the Joker and Harley Quinn singing and performing. It’s not certain if there will be any new songs in the film. People who are involved in the filming and have seen early versions of the movie say it will mainly feature familiar songs, with about 15 of them getting a new twist. One of these songs is “That’s Entertainment” from a musical in 1953, which was famously associated with Judy Garland. But there’s a possibility that one or two new songs might be added later on, although we don’t know who will write or sing them. We do know that Hildur Guðnadóttir, who won an Oscar for the music in the first “Joker” movie, will be working on the music again. Warner Bros. hasn’t said anything about this yet.
Movies that use popular songs, like “Mamma Mia!” and “Moulin Rouge!,” often do well at the box office. “Joker: Folie à Deux” is expected to be different from typical musicals.
We don’t know much about the story yet, but it’s said to be a drama with parts set at Arkham Asylum. Alongside Joaquin Phoenix and Lady Gaga, there are other talented actors like Zazie Beetz, Catherine Keener, and Brendan Gleeson. The script was worked on by Todd Phillips and Scott Silver.
The budget for this sequel is around $200 million, much more than the first movie. It’s one of Warner Bros.’s most anticipated releases this year. They also have other big movies coming out, like “Furiosa: A Mad Max Saga,” “Twisters,” “Beetlejuice Beetlejuice,” and an animated “The Lord of the Rings” movie.
The first “Joker” movie was a huge success, winning awards and making a lot of money. There’s talk about possibly premiering the new one at the Venice Film Festival this year.
Joaquin Phoenix won an Oscar for his role in the first movie. Lady Gaga, who’s won many Grammys, also won an Oscar for writing a song for another movie. She was even nominated for Best Actress that year, which is a rare accomplishment.
“Joker: Folie à Deux” will hit theaters on October 4th.
