Lucifer Season 5 began in August 2020, when the first eight episodes were released on Netflix. Fans, however, have been waiting since for news of when Part 2 would come out—and when they would get to see the resolution of the cliffhanger that saw Lucifer’s (played by Tom Ellis) father God (Dennis Haysbert) come to Earth.
The show will release eight more episodes on Friday, May 28, nine months after the last set of episodes. May 28 looks set to be a busy day for the streamer, as it is also when the third and final season of cult comedy as expected.
Lucifer fans got the hashtag #ThankYouLucifer trending on Twitter. In addition to Ellis and German, Lucifer stars Aimee Garcia, Rachael Harris, Kevin Alejandro, Lesley-Ann Brandt, D.B. Woodside, and Scarlett Estevez. The series is based on characters created for DC Comics’ Vertigo imprint by Neil Gaiman, Sam Kieth, and Mike Dringenberg and was developed by Tom Kapinos.
Lucifer had an amazing emotional journey in season 4, with Chloe there to support him. There’s going to be a lot for him and his dad to hash out, and hopefully, our favorite detective will be there for him again.
Lucifer season 5B was delayed when filming on episode 16 was shut down, due to the coronavirus. When production resumed, the show finished work on that episode and went immediately into filming the sixth and final season.
Lucifer season 5 part 2 follows up on the first eight episodes, which dropped in August. The new installments pick up “two seconds from where we ended.
