Gwen Stefani certainly didn’t anticipate a backlash when she encouraged her followers to “spend time in prayer” during Advent. Gwen was advertising Hallow’s Advent Challenge, a daily prayer initiative in the run-up to Christmas.

She added on her Instagram reel, “It is important this holiday season to spend time in prayer. That is what Christmas is all about: letting God into our hearts and letting Jesus bring us his peace. Download Hallow, and join me and millions of others in praying every day this Advent and Christmas season.”

Her advertisement for the purported app received a huge backlash from netizens across the board.  One user noted, “This app was developed by JD Vance and Peter Thiel. Why are you advancing their anti-woman, anti-LGBTQIA agenda and their greed? As someone said recently, you don’t need to pay $70 per year to find Jesus in an app. Jesus is absolutely everywhere, for absolutely everyone, all the time, for free!”

Chrishell Stause simultaneously responded personally to Gwen’s collaboration with the prayer app Hallow. She commented, “Gwen—DON’T SPEAK,” alluding to the 1996 smash song by No Doubt. “On this one, take your own advice.”

One commenter said, “God is free, Gwen; touch some grass,” while another noted that praying is free. Hallow, which consists of prayers and meditations that are overtly anti-abortion, allegedly costs $9.99 per month or $69.99 annually.

Other celebrities who have collaborated with Hallow include Mark Wahlberg and Chris Pratt, alongside Stefani.
