“It Hurts Your Feelings”: Matthew Lillard Responds to Tarantino’s Slam
Share on FacebookShare on Twitter

Quentin Tarantino damaged Matthew Lillard’s sentiments. While addressing GalaxyCon in Columbus, Ohio (via Entertainment Weekly), Lillard responded to the “Pulp Fiction” filmmaker, stating, “I don’t care for Matthew Lillard” during a recent visit on “The Bret Easton Ellis Podcast.”

Fans then yelled out 'We love you' and he responded 'thank you'

“Quentin Tarantino this week said he didn’t like me as an actor,” Lillard told fans, drawing groans from the audience. “Eh, whatever. Who gives a shit?”  Whilst Lillard quickly dismissed the criticisms, he did admit that it made him upset that Tarantino didn’t like his work.

“It hurts your feelings.” He said, “It fucking sucks. And you wouldn’t say that to Tom Cruise. You wouldn’t say that to somebody who’s a top-line actor in Hollywood.” Lillard added that it taught him that the adoration he got from fans is not always representative of the business as a whole. “I’m very popular in this room. I’m not very popular in Hollywood,” Lillard said. “Two totally different microcosms, right? And so, you know, it’s humbling, and it hurts.”

In a previous episode of “The Bret Easton Ellis Podcast,” Tarantino listed his top movies of the century. The creator of “Pulp Fiction” ranked Paul Thomas Anderson’s “There Will Be Blood” fifth on his list, but he said it would have been stronger if it didn’t have a “big giant flaw,” referring to Paul Dano’s performance opposite Daniel Day-Lewis.

Dano gives a “non-entity performance” in the film, according to Tarantino, who also claimed that Austin Butler would have performed better and that Dano is “the weakest male actor in SAG.” Tarantino also mentioned two additional actors he dislikes while at it. He claimed, “I don’t care for him, I don’t care for Owen Wilson, and I don’t care for Matthew Lillard.”
