The supervillain showdown of the generation or an ant trampled with a boot: Homelander vs. Omni-Man? The argument amongst fans has already prompted a response from the creator of Invincible. The Boys and Invincible fandoms have been inflamed by Mortal Kombat 1, notably about who would win (and possibly get bloody) in a fight between Homelander and Omni-Man.
The former is the captain of The Seven, a superhero team akin to the Avengers made up of upgraded human experiments that have been infused with compound V. He can fly, and possesses laser eyesight, and superhuman strength. The latter is undoubtedly the most powerful being on Earth, possessing comparable abilities alongside centuries’ worth of invincibility and lifespan.
The author of Invincible, Kirkman, claimed that if they engaged in combat, Omni-Man would “trash” Homelander. Kirkman joined the Invincible creators Cory Walker and Ryan Ottley in a previous video uploaded to Skybound’s YouTube page to compare the eponymous hero to other comic book characters.
Homelander inevitably popped into the conversation. Ottler went on to say that Homelander and Omni-Man had already engaged in combat when Omni-Man “tore him in half and ripped his head off.” When Kirkman discussed a potential fight between the two distinct characters with Seth Rogen and Evan Goldberg, they “agreed that Homelander is significantly less powerful than Omni-Man, and Omni-Man would trash Homelander easily,” according to Kirkman.
This does reflect the overwhelming majority on social media. One fan tweeted on Omni-Man’s Viltrum ancestry, saying, “Homelander is a big fish in a small pond while Omni-Man comes from a warrior society, Omni-Man wins hands down.” Another user scribed, “Omni-Man, easily. So far, we’ve seen Homelander bully weaker supes with surprise attacks and have to tag-team to fight one person, whereas Omni-Man has fought strong groups or entire planets and survived.”
But some folks appear hell-bent on being incorrect. One person commented, “I would say Omni-Man, but Homelander is gonna fight dirty, so Homelander “Omni-Man. But you’d be surprised by how well Homelander would do,” one person said, not realizing that Omni-Man could just punch Homelander into a paste.
