As per Rolling Stone, Cumberbatch and the Marvel production house have shaken hands for his surfacing appearance in the season’s final episode. The fans had assumed that the WandaVision finale would build grounds for the next-in-line doctor strange in the Multiverse of Madness in which Wanda had a significant role to play.
Everyone was extremely furious or disappointed due to the lack of a Doctor Strange cameo in WandaVision even after vision has teased the audience for a really long time. The marvel studios seem to have the explanation up their sleeves.
Kevin Feige the marvel chief told Rolling Stone for the May print edition and I quote,” Some people might say, ‘Oh, it would’ve been so cool to see Doctor Strange but it would have taken away the limelight from Wanda. We didn’t want the end of the show to be commoditized to go to the next movie – here’s the white guy, ‘Let me show you how power works.’”
They didn’t want it to end up looking like the white male character arriving to save the day.
The team handling WandaVision vetoed the original idea and permitted Wanda to master her newfound chaos magic by developing her powers before she could join the Sorcerer Supreme. Benedict Cumberbatch addressed the fans by apologizing at The Tonight Show Starring Jimmy Fallon for the lack of a doctor strange cameo. He went on to say,” “If it didn’t happen, then I am sorry about that,”
Kevin Feige divulged that the Twin Peaks commercial breaks were initially coded messages Wanda would send to Doctor Strange as he tried to advance through Wanda’s sitcom fabrication. The finale found WandaVision coming into her own as the Scarlet Witch, without any assistant of any other character be it male or female, or anyone explaining her own powers to her. They really stressed the fact that she is capable of it all!
WandaVision season finale is currently streaming on Disney+
