Martin Scorsese continues to rule over the new Hollywood era and confirms that the shooting for his upcoming western drama crime thriller has officially begun in Oklahoma. This movie stars the legendary Leonardo DiCaprio and Robert De Niro. The movie is an adaptation of David Grann’s best-selling non-fictional book that released back in 2017 titled the same as that of the movie. Killer of the flower moon is set in the 1920s in the state of Oklahoma and delineates the enigmatic murders of members of the Osage Nation. The string of murders took place with the intent to steal the oil wealth sparkling a major F.B.I. investigation involving J Edgar Hoover.
Martin says that they are thrilled to finally start the production after a long pause due to the pandemic and they are all set to roll the cameras. He also states that their goal with the film is “to immortalize a time in American history that should not be forgotten.” The budget of the film is estimated to be a tidy sum of $200 million. The production team believes that it is extremely vital to shoot in the Osage nation to depict a true tale and would need tones of costumes, dozens of sets, and extras to maintain authenticity.
In other news, Scorsese and DiCaprio reportedly spent months meeting with members of the Osage Nation in order to ensure the film’s authenticity. The production is anticipated to be carried out throughout the summer of 2021.
The Oklahoma films, music office, and the Apple original films have confirmed that the filming has already kicked off with necessary precautions for the safety of the cast and the crew keeping covid19 in mind. The shooting began on 19 April 2021. Scorsese has thanked Apple for financing the movie. Killers of the moonflower will be distributed by Paramount and streamed on Apple TV+. However, the release date of the film has not been announced as yet.
