The fantasy movie “Legend of Aang: The Last Airbender” from Paramount will launch straight on the Paramount+ streaming platform rather than in cinemas as originally intended.

The popular TV show’s cinematic sequel, originally scheduled to debut in theaters on October 9, will debut on the streaming service at some point in the autumn.

In the meantime, Paramount+ plans to develop a new animated television series called “Avatar: Seven Havens,” which will be available only on streaming services. Paramount+ now offers four seasons of “The Legend of Korra,” the 2010 movie “Avatar: The Last Airbender,” and the original Nickelodeon series.

“The Avatar Universe has captivated audiences for two decades, and Paramount+ is proud to be the exclusive streaming home for its beloved animated incarnation,” stated Jane Wiseman, Paramount+’s head of originals.

“The Legend of Aang: The Last Airbender’ and ‘Avatar: Seven Havens’ represent the next evolution of storytelling from Avatar Studios — bringing together remarkable talent both in front of and behind the camera to deliver the epic adventures and emotional depth fans have come to expect. These additions, alongside ‘The Legend of Korra’ and the original series, solidify Paramount+ as the destination for the animated Avatar Universe.”

“Primate” is scheduled for January, followed by “Scream 7” in February, “Scary Movie 6” in June, “PAW Patrol: The Dino Movie” in August, “Street Fighter” in October, and “The Angry Birds 3” in December.
