Daniella Pick, who has been married to Quentin Tarantino since 2018, spoke openly about their time together, her first significant film role, and how the renowned Hollywood filmmaker, who has produced classics like Pulp Fiction and Inglourious Bastards, dealt with the conflict in a Channel 12 news interview with Danny Hecht on Saturday night.
For many years, the couple and their two kids have resided in Tel Aviv. Pick responded, “Absolutely not,” to Hecht’s question about whether Tarantino considered returning to Hollywood as bombs dropped on Tel Aviv during the conflict.
“First of all, Quentin takes it the easiest way in the world. Most of the time, he wouldn’t even go down to the shelter if I didn’t tell him, and … I have two small children in my arms, so he helps me … He isn’t afraid, and once he said something funny to me: ‘Well, whatever. Like if something happens, I’ll die as a Zionist.’ So I said, ‘Well, OK.”
The family’s decision to remain in their Israeli home during the conflict was never in doubt. “We’ll be here,” Tarantino declared throughout the conflict. “It was clear,” she remarked.
Pick reaffirmed that they had no intentions of relocating the family from their cosy house in north Tel Aviv, despite rumours a few months ago that Tarantino would be creating a play in London.
In the news story, the filmmaker, who is learning Hebrew and has frequently talked about how much he enjoys being an active father, told reporters, “I love it [in Israel]. If I didn’t love it, I wouldn’t be there. Playing with my kids, walking around the neighborhood, or riding my bike around the neighborhood. Just going out with my good friends and having fun, drinking and smoking cigars, or having dinner with my good friends.”
