Scarlett Johansson is in talks to act alongside Robert Pattinson’s hooded Knight in “The Batman Part II”. This was not in my to-be 2026 bingo cards.
Filming for the Matt Reeves-directed DC Studios movie is expected to begin next spring in preparation for Warner Bros.’ October 2027 theatrical release. Reeves and co-writer Mattson Tomlin finished writing the story for the eagerly anticipated sequel in June after “The Batman” debuted in theatres in March 2022 and made $772 million at the global box office. According to Hollywood-Sherlocks, with the production, Zoe Kravitz’s Catwoman is not anticipated to return for the movie.
“It’s been a long journey, but I am so incredibly excited.” Reeves revealed the extent to which the “The Batman” team tried to conceal the plot when he told Variety at the September Emmys, “I’m really proud of the script me and Mattson did. We put [the script] into a secret pouch that literally has a lock on it with a code. [Robert Pattinson] was in New York at the time, and everything is high security.”
Similarly, Johansson’s possible role has not been disclosed. In particular, Johansson’s involvement in the Batman sequel entails crossing the comic book boulevard from DC’s armoury of superheroes to the Marvel Cinematic Universe, where she is a core Avenger as Natasha Romanoff, also known as Black Widow.
Beyond her franchise IP, Johansson, a two-time Oscar nominee, has been quite active. The drama “Eleanor the Great”, which opened at the Cannes Film Festival and was distributed by Sony Pictures Classics, marked her directorial debut. Her upcoming film is “Paper Tiger”, starring James Grey. Yorn Levine LLC and CAA are representing her.
