Josh Brolin Reflects on Past Friendship With Donald Trump, Calls Him a “Marketing Genius”

Josh Brolin reminisced back to his past acquaintance with Donald Trump, when the president was a New York City real estate tycoon. Referring to him as a “genius” in marketing. He added, “There is no greater genius than him in marketing – he takes the weakness of the general population and fills it. And that’s why I think a lot of people feel that they have a mascot in him. I think it’s much less about Trump than it is about the general population and their need for validation.”

In an appearance with The Independent, Brolin stated that because he “was a friend” of Trump prior to his presidency, he has a distinct perspective on the president. Brolin is certain that Trump won’t attempt to run a third term because of this agreement, despite the prospect being discussed in some political circles and occasionally raised by Trump as well.

“I’m not scared of Trump, because even though he says he’s staying forever, it’s just not going to happen,” Brolin said. “And if it does, then I’ll deal with that moment. But having been a friend of Trump before he was president, I know a different guy.”

During the production of Oliver Stone’s 2010 financial movie “Wall Street: Money Never Sleeps”, the celebrity got to know Trump. Trump was originally scheduled to appear in the movie, but he was ultimately removed.

Later, Brolin stated that he thought Trump’s prior business ventures were “interesting”, pointing out his decision to construct significant projects “in the middle of a cesspool city during the late ’70s”. But now that he is president, he views his position as “power unmitigated”.

Brolin denounced Trump’s 2020 presidential campaign in an emotional Instagram post in October 2020, despite the fact that he had previously thought of Trump as a friend.

The ‘No Country for Old Men’ star commented, “I refuse to believe that Donald Trump is our core version of American masculinity. The America that was great was never based on creating hate and conspiracy in order to win. There have been a few, but none has lasted. Donald Trump has lied over 50,000 documented times, but we still are willing to let it go because he speaks to an American demographic that no longer felt masculine.”
