Aaron Paul, star of Breaking Bad, has discussed his role as Powerplex in the adult animated series Invincible on Prime Video as well as the reasons he won’t be returning for season 4.

Paul discussed his involvement in Invincible and the reasons he won’t be reprising his part as the supervillain Powerplex in an interview with the Kinda Funny Games podcast. Although Paul expressed his admiration for the program, he has stated that he is not interested in returning:

“I did a couple of episodes, and they asked me to come back for next season, but I’ve got to tell you…that show, I’m such a fan of. I watch every episode. I love. It was just way too gruelling on my psyche. It was such an emotional…I have such respect for what they’re doing. Powerplex is not just messing around. He’s going through things. Turmoil. I put myself in that skin, and it was a skin I didn’t feel comfortable in, to be honest. I didn’t want to do it anymore…the thing is, everyone involved in that is amazing. What it did to me, I didn’t like. I couldn’t continue.”

In season three, Paul’s character Powerplex was introduced as an emotionally disturbed and psychotic scientist who wants to exact revenge on Invincible for his part in the murders of his sister and niece. But in the process of seeking retribution, he unwittingly causes the deaths of his kid and wife.

The role of Matthew Rhys, who starred in The Beast in Me, has not yet been revealed; however, it is uncertain whether Paul will be replaced or if Powerplex will return.

Robert Kirkman’s film Invincible has received overwhelmingly positive reviews, a stellar cast, and an amazing 99% rating on Rotten Tomatoes. Steven Yeun, Mark Hamill, Gillian Jacobs, Walton Goggins, and Seth Rogen are among the voice actors. A fifth season has already been renewed, and the fourth season is scheduled to debut in March 2026. The main opponent in the first Invincible comic, Thragg, will be Lee Pace of Foundation. One of the strongest characters is Pace, who “rules his people through strength, cruelty, and will – determined to restore Viltrum to its previous glory at any cost.”

As the best-reviewed series on Prime Video, Invincible has achieved tremendous success thus far, generating a sizable sum of money for the streaming service.
