The live-action “Legend of Zelda” film from Sony and Nintendo is now the talk of the town, as the visuals for the anticipated film have arrived. Sony and the game developer are collaborating on the project, and the first glimpse has just been made public. In the initial glimpse, the well-known figures of Princess Zelda and swordsman Link are shown sitting in a verdant field, prepared for the task at hand. Both have a piercing gaze, Hylian ears, and combat-ready attire.
Takashi Tezuka and Shigeru Miyamoto created the first video game. The first edition was published on February 21, 1986. The game told the tale of Link, a valiant swordsman who vowed to save Hyrule. Zelda, who was descended from Goddess Hylia, accompanied him. Together, they fight Ganon, a despotic dictator who wants to harness the Triforce’s abilities to make the world grimmer and darker. There have been 21 versions of the game series since its inception, in addition to a number of spin-offs.
The film’s producer, Shigeru Miyamoto of Nintendo, announced Link and Zelda’s casting during the summer in a social media post. Stating, “I am pleased to announce that for the live-action film of ‘The Legend of Zelda,’ Zelda will be played by Bo Bragason-san, and Link by Benjamin Evan Ainsworth-san. I am very much looking forward to seeing both of them on the big screen.”
The video game franchise has sold more than 150 million copies, with Breath of the Wild being the most popular installment. It’ll be fascinating to watch how the film does in comparison to past video game adaptations. For example, Angeline Jolie’s first Lara Croft earned $273 million (Rs 2400 crore), whereas Jack Gylenhaal’s Prince of Persia grossed $336 million (Rs 2975 crore) globally.
