David Corenswet Did NOT Sign Palestine Pledge: What Really Happened
Share on FacebookShare on Twitter

The most recent Hollywood celebrity to sign the “Film Workers for Palestine” commitment is David Corenswet, an American actor best known for playing the main character in James Gunn’s “Superman.” He continues a growing roster of Hollywood celebrities who have shown support for Palestinians. Issued on September 8, the pledge urges entertainment industry participants to refrain from working with Israeli film organizations that are allegedly associated with “genocide and apartheid.” seems true, right? I thought the same, however, this turned out to be false.

Personally, I did not believe that April Fool’s Day was also celebrated in November. But, there were some assumptions and hoaxes around the fact that Corenswet’s ‘Superman’ actually hinted towards pro-Palestine ideologies. But overall, he did not sign the “Film Workers for Palestine” commitment.

Filmworkers4palestine penned on Instagram, “A troll went to great lengths to pretend to be David Corenswet in correspondence. Correnswet’s name has now been removed from the pledge.”

The declaration aims to“ answer the call of Palestinian film-makers, who have urged the international film industry to refuse silence, racism, and dehumanization, as well as to ‘do everything humanly possible’ to end complicity in their oppression.” Corenswet is not a part of the signatories yet; no one can predict the future, and perhaps someday this falsely prophesied article may come true.
