It has been reported that Donald Glover would voice Yoshi in the Super Mario Galaxy movie. The actor from Atlanta will provide the voice of the famous green dinosaur from the Nintendo video game in the 2023 follow-up to The Super Mario Bros. Movie.
After the release of the completed trailer for the film, producer Chris Meledandri, CEO of the animation studio Illumination, announced it in a Nintendo Direct broadcast on Monday.
He said, “Since he appeared in our recent trailer, many of you have wondered who’s voicing the character. I’m excited to share with you today that the voice of Yoshi is Donald Glover.”
Additionally, Luis Guzmán from Wednesday as Wart and Issa Rae from Insecure as Honey Queen are new additions to the voice cast.
As the voices of Mario and Luigi, the beloved plumbers in the computer game, the upcoming stellar cast is headlined by Chris Pratt and Charlie Day. Keegan-Michael Key as Toad, Jack Black as Bowser, and Anya Taylor-Joy as Princess Peach are among the other returning cast members.
Mario, Luigi, Peach, and their new friend Yoshi embark on an adventure in space to battle the wicked Bowser and his son in the upcoming film, which is centered on the 2007 video game Super Mario Galaxy and its 2010 sequel.
On April 1st, Aaron Horvath and Michael Jelenic’s Super Mario Galaxy movie will open in theaters.
