Just over a week after the adored Home Alone and Schitt’s Creek star, Catherine O’Hara, passed away at the age of 71. Her cause of death was formally announced.
At first, O’Hara’s manager said that she had passed away after a “brief illness”. The actor’s death certificate was released by the Los Angeles County Medical Examiner’s Office on Monday, according to TMZ.
It claims that a pulmonary embolism—a blood clot in O’Hara’s heart—was the primary cause of her demise. The fundamental root was identified as rectal cancer. According to the death certificate, O’Hara was cremated, and her husband, Bo Welch, received her remains.
Over the course of her five-decade career, O’Hara portrayed a wide range of characters, but her most well-known roles were probably those of mothers. Before playing matron Moira Rose in the popular TV series Schitt’s Creek, she portrayed Kate McCallister, the mother of Macaulay Culkin’s character Kevin, in the initial two Home Alone flicks.
Among those spearheading the remembrances of his deceased co-star, Culkin posted on Instagram, “Mama. I thought we had time. I wanted more.”
Pedro Pascal, who collaborated with O’Hara on The Last of Us, also paid his sympathies. “Oh, genius to be near you. Eternally grateful. There is less light in my world; this lucky world that had you, will keep you, always.”
