Jonathan Nolan, the brother of director Christopher Nolan, has formally given “The Odyssey” its first fantastic review. His older brother’s next epic is “spectacular” and “tremendous,” he informed CinemaBlend.

“I’m not working on ‘The Odyssey.’ I have seen ‘The Odyssey.’ It’s tremendous. It’s an incredible achievement,” Jonathan Nolan said. “I was fascinated by the ‘Iliad’ and ‘The Odyssey’ when I was younger, and I had some fun conversations with Chris about where he’s taking it. It’s a spectacular film… I’m not sure I’m supposed to say that but, yes, it’s tremendous.”

The careers of Jonathan and Christopher Nolan are intertwined because Jonathan’s short tale served as the inspiration for Christopher’s breakthrough 2000 film “Memento.”

The Dark Knight, The Prestige, The Dark Knight Rises, and Interstellar were all co-written by the brothers.

Following “Interstellar” and “Oppenheimer,” Matt Damon rejoins Nolan to play the major role of Odysseus in “The Odyssey.” Tom Holland portrays Telemachus, his son. Anne Hathaway, Zendaya, Lupita Nyong’o, Robert Pattinson, Charlize Theron, and Jon Bernthal are also part of the large cast.

After winning the Oscar for “Oppenheimer,” Nolan revealed to Empire magazine a year ago that he was intrigued by doing a theatrical adaptation of Homer’s Greek classic because it would allow him to accomplish something that is just not frequently done in modern Filmmaking.

Speaking to the magazine, Nolan explained his decision to adapt Homer’s “Odyssey” into a film by saying, “As a filmmaker, you’re looking for gaps in cinematic culture, things that haven’t been done before.  And what I saw is that all of this great mythological cinematic work that I had grown up with – Ray Harryhausen movies and other things – I’d never seen that done with the sort of weight and credibility that an A-budget and a big Hollywood, IMAX production could do.”
