Don Lee (Ma Dong-seok), the debutante of the highly regarded South Korean movie The Gangster, The Cop, The Devil, will be reimagined under James Wan’s direction by Paramount Pictures. Shay Hatten penned the script, while Brian Helgeland authored the first draft and will act as executive producer.

Along with Sylvester Stallone and D. Matt Geller via Balboa Productions, Chris Lee via B&C Group, and Jang Won-seok, CEO of BA Entertainment, Lee is also producing through Big Punch Global.

The original film, which debuted at the 2019 Cannes Film Festival, is about a police officer and a criminal leader who collaborate to find a killer on the loose.

Wan lately helmed Aquaman and the Lost Kingdom. The follow-up to the 2018 movie is DC Studios’ top-grossing movie globally.

The Conjuring Universe is one of Wan’s most well-known horror franchises as a director and producer. As a director, Wan also holds the distinguishing feature of having directed two films that made more than $1 billion at the global box office: Aquaman and Furious 7, the first Universal picture to do so. David Fox at Myman Greenspan, Stacey Testro International, and CAA represent Wan.
