With the eagerly awaited release of “Scary Movie 6,” which puts the Wayans brothers back in charge of the franchise for the very first time in decades, Marlon Wayans hopes to stir up as many people as she can.
The Wayans brothers’ previous horror film parody has undoubtedly impacted the globe at large, but that is precisely why the comedian-actor believes that film is more important than ever.
Fans were given a sneak peek at “Scary Movie 6,” which is scheduled to arrive in theaters this summer, as the popular horror film series “Scream” recently made a comeback with its seventh installment. It’s evident from the inaugural trailer that everyone is vulnerable to being made fun of, and Wayans (as well as his siblings) intended for this to happen.
In an exclusive interview with Entertainment Weekly, Wayans discussed the motivation for the movie and his goals for viewers of the latest release.
“What we’re trying to do is bring back laughter,” he told the publication. “This is about bringing back comedy the way it used to be. And I think the only way to do it is you have to cancel the cancel culture. “We’re gonna do what we always do. We’re gonna make fun of everybody because we’re equal opportunity offenders.”
Additionally, he stated that the Wayans family’s hereditary style of humor will be prominently displayed now that they are back in charge of the company.
“We have a recipe, we have a formula that you can’t mimic or copy. You could try, but it’s very specific. It’s how we grew up, and it’s how we see the world. It’s the household we were raised in with the sense of humor that we all were governed with, that we inherited from our mother,” Wayans added.
