The news was initially hinted at in an earlier headline-grabbing profile of Martin in The Hollywood Reporter, which said that dueling renditions of the story of King Aegon I Targaryen’s invasion of Westeros were being developed by Warner Bros. and HBO. The movie version is being envisaged as a massive, Dune-inspired theatrical film.
