The next film in Universal’s The Mummy franchise, starring Oscar winners Brendan Fraser and Rachel Weisz, is scheduled for release on May 19, 2028. No additional wide entrants are scheduled for that date; the university had the date set aside for a film event
The two were negotiating to star in the film, Radio Silence, whose plot is still unknown, based on a screenplay by David Coggeshall (The Family Plan, Orphan: First Kill).
Fraser featured in the first three Mummy films, including Mummy, Mummy Returns, and The Mummy: Tomb of the Dragon Emperor (2008). Weisz starred in the first two Mummy films, The Mummy (1999) and The Mummy Returns (2001).
Tyler Gillett and Matt Bettinelli-Olpin are directing the film. Returning to produce is Sean Daniel, whose renowned work on The Mummy series has brought in $1.8 billion worldwide. Besides contributing to the 2017 Tom Cruise revival, Daniel produced the first three films.
The next chapter of The Mummy is being produced by Project X Entertainment, which includes Paul Neinstein, James Vanderbilt, and William Sherak. Executive producers include Fraser, Jason F. Brown of Hivemind, and Denis Stewart.
Development of Universal EVP Production Director of Production Development, and Jay Polidoro, Jacqueline Garell is in charge of the studio’s production.
