Tarantino, in the past, made some controversial remarks that stirred the twitter at times. This a spicy throwback following the resurfacing of a radio interview in which he claimed that Roman Polanski’s intercourse with a 13-year-old girl wasn’t rape, Quentin Tarantino has come under fire. The director of Pulp Fiction minimized the incident in the 2003 interview, rejecting the notion that it constituted rape.
Tarantino said the 13-year-old “wanted to have it” and was “down to party with Roman” when speaking to DJ Howard Stern.
Before leaving the United States, Polanski spent 42 days in prison after confessing to having sex with a child in 1977. A request for comment has not received a response from Tarantino.
He has already expressed regret for Uma Thurman’s accident on the filming location of Kill Bill, a 2003 movie. Tarantino spoke extensively about the Polanski case with Howard Stern and his co-host Robin Quivers on the Howard Stern Show, an interview that was uploaded to YouTube but has since been taken down.
Polanski entered a guilty plea to the crime of illicit sexual relations with a child, formerly known as statutory rape, as a component of a plea deal.
“He didn’t rape a 13-year-old,” Tarantino added to Stern. “It was statutory rape. That’s not quite the same thing… He had sex with a minor, all right. That’s not rape. To me, when you use the word rape, you’re talking about violent, throwing them down.”
Quivers informed Tarantino that Polanski’s victim had been given a drink and psychotropic medications before being attacked. The director continued to deny that the sexual contact qualified as rape. He added, “No, that was not the case at all. She wanted to have it and dated the guy.”
Later in the conversation, Tarantino admitted to Stern that he knew the conduct was against the law and that he would “beat the hell” out of a man who engaged in sexual activity with his imaginary 13-year-old daughter.
He added, “I don’t believe that’s rape. I believe it’s against the law. I don’t believe it’s rape. Not at 13 – not for these 13-year-old party girls.”
