Blair Waldorf of Gossip Girl will continue her adventures in Manhattan in an upcoming stand-alone book called Blair, written by Cecily von Ziegesar, the author of the original series.
The novel, to be authored by von Ziegesar, has been sold by Alloy Entertainment to Karen Kosztolnyik, VP, Executive Editorial Director of Fiction at Grand Central Publishing, in a significant transaction. (via Deadline)
Twenty years have passed since the first, best-selling Gossip Girl series, when ‘Blair’ takes place. Imagine Blair Waldorf in her forties. The novel’s specifics are still unknown. It is anticipated that it will depict the former NYC socialite as she makes her way back to the top of the Upper East Side food chain in New York.
Summer 2027 is the anticipated publication date. In keeping with its long-standing strategy of licensing only the book rights to publishers while keeping the rest, Alloy Entertainment will keep the film and television rights for the newly released book.
There is currently no information on how this could evolve into a written small-screen project, but it will undoubtedly pique curiosity in the television industry.
More than 6 million copies of the 2002 Gossip Girl book were sold, it was translated into 25 languages, and it spent more than 100 weeks on the New York Times bestsellers list. With the help of Josh Schwartz and Stephanie Savage as inventors and producers, Alloy debuted the six-season Gossip Girl television series on Warner Bros.
