A Crown-inspired television series about one of the most well-known soccer teams in the world is apparently being developed by Lionsgate and Man United. The television series is in the works and will tell tales from Manchester United’s history throughout the decades, according to The Athletic, which broke the story.

According to The Athletic, an agreement has been hammered that, should the show be created and marketed, it will guarantee Man United a substantial amount in the low multi-millions. It also stated that United and Lionsgate will split future royalties.

The plan is to produce an ongoing series in a monarchical fashion for a major streaming service. From the 1958 Munich air disaster to the 1968 European Cup-winning squad led by Matt Busby to Alex Ferguson’s dominance of the Premier League era.

Man United has a wealth of history worth sharing. Since Ferguson’s exit in 2013, the club’s treasury has been depleted, and it just laid off its manager, Ruben Amorim, after a tumultuous regime.

Between 2016 and 2023, the Netflix series The Crown ran for six seasons, recounting decades of royal history from Queen Elizabeth II’s coronation and early tenure to the advent of modern times.

Olivia Colman and Emma Corrin, two previous cast members of The Crown, will soon reunite on screen in an upcoming six- Episode Netflix version of Jane Austen’s Pride and Prejudice.
