It appears that Cruise shot a portion of a Star Wars film. The director of next year’s Star Wars: The Rise of Skywalker, Shawn Levy, reportedly told the New York Times (via Variety) that Cruise visited the movie’s set in November of last year. And the celebrity actually jumped behind one of the cameras after Levy made a joke about it. In fact, he filmed a lightsaber duel sequence.
He said, “Tom Cruise was up to his ankles in mud and pond water. He wore a look of great concentration as he stooped over a digital camera, trying to frame the perfect shot.” He even mentioned how much Tom Cruise wielded the camera like a pro. Levy said, Now, when you see the movie, you’ll know that part of it was shot by Tom. I mean, how cool is that?”
Last year, Steven Spielberg visited the scene as well, but it doesn’t seem like he got behind the camera. He ended up filming a portion of the Mustafar combat when visiting George Lucas’ Revenge of the Sith location.
Starfighter will engage in a lightsaber duel. And, apparently, in a swamp. There was no assurance that any Jedi or Sith would appear in this film because it is set a few years after the sequels. Starfighter might be about an X-wing pilot.
