Timothée Chalamet, who will reprise his role as Paul Atreides in Dune: Part Three, recently revealed some significant details about the film’s chronology. In the third part of the enormous franchise, the actor disclosed on The Graham Norton Show that his character will be 15 to 20 years older.
He went on to say that the audience would witness a significant “shift” in Paul, which seemed to excite him. Chalamet added that his character in Dune: Part Three will have a startling new hairdo. In his words, “There’s supposed to be a nice character shift. I’m playing 15, 20 years older.”
Although Chalamet didn’t go into great detail regarding the changes his character would soon undergo, it is reasonable to assume that they would be drastic. Paul battled to survive and flee the conflict in the first two Dune films. He is stuck in the future he predicted but was unable to prevent in Dune: Part Three. He would probably be devastated and would become more emotionally detached.
The bodily changes didn’t appear to interest him as much. When questioned about his new hairstyle, he disclosed that it was for the iconic science fiction movie.
It wasn’t intended to be as short as it is now, according to Chalamet. He clarified that Denis Villeneuve, the filmmaker, wanted them to be shorter after the original cut. He had to plead with Villeneuve to leave his hair and not cut it too short. “We did a 3-millimetre haircut, I think it’s called. And the director wanted more, 1.5, then we did 1. And then I begged him, I said, ‘Please, please,’ like. You know, your hair, weirdly, we’re all very attached. It’s kind of like our personality,” he added.
Dune: Part Three will witness the return of Rebecca Ferguson (Lady Jessica), Florence Pugh (Princess Irulan), Josh Brolin (Gurney Halleck), Jason Momoa (Duncan Idaho), and even fresh faces of Robert Pattinson (Scytale), Nakoa-Wolf Momoa (Leto II), and Ida Brooke (Ghanima Atreides).
