The five-minute “prologue” of Christopher Nolan’s “The Odyssey” is scheduled to begin slightly earlier than anticipated. According to previous accounts, copies of “Avatar: Fire and Ash” will include a more comprehensive look at the movie when it launches on December 19. A few astute moviegoers who are purchasing tickets for the one-week IMAX 70mm re-release of “Sinners” and “One Battle After Another” on December 12th have spotted something intriguing.
NolanAnalyst speculates that IMAX is moving ahead with “The Odyssey” sneak peek for those IMAX 70mm screenings because both films seem to have been listed with runtimes that are precisely five minutes lengthier than their archetypal IMAX debuts earlier this year. An almost six-minute clip will be included with those re-releases on December 12th, according to multiple sites. Then copies of “Avatar: Fire and Ash” will be shown in a condensed version that is more equivalent to a trailer.
The story, which takes place in the eighth century BC, follows the fabled Greek ruler of Ithaca, Odysseus, on his arduous and protracted return home after the Trojan War. It tells the story of his interactions with legendary creatures, including the witch-goddess Circe, the Cyclops Polyphemus, and the Sirens, while trying to get back together with his son Telemachus and wife Penelope.
With a budget of over $250 million, the film is reportedly heavily utilising new, state-of-the-art IMAX cameras. Filming for the project ended in August after a seven-month production in Italy, Malta, Morocco, Greece, Scotland, and Iceland.
