“I’m kind of glad the fans are upset, because what if I was missing and nobody cared?” Ice-T declared. You could be wondering, “Where is Fin?” if you’re enjoying Law & Order: Special Victims Unit Season 27 the actor who has portrayed the strong yet compassionate Sgt. Fin Tutuola’s return in the second season of the venerable procedural series, Ice-T has reacted.
“It’s just basically business,” he said in a video interview that TMZ released on Monday. “They brought [Kelli Giddish] back, and at the end of the day, they couldn’t really keep both of us on full-time, as far as budget-wise. So they said, ‘Ice, we’ll have you come in and out this year.'” The renowned rapper, actor, and entrepreneur said, ” Everybody wanted Kelli back” when the actress departed the show in 2022 after serving as Sgt. Amanda Rollins for 11 seasons.
He composed an optimistic message to fans, Ice-T continued, “We’ve got new cops and stuff like that,” adding, “I’m not leaving the show.” There are four ongoing shows and four that have already concluded in the Law & Order expanded TV realm. The length of time cast members have worked on the different shows has varied greatly. While most recurring characters appear for only a single season, SVU protagonist Mariska Hargitay has been part of the show since its debut.
After consistently appearing on the spinoff since 2000, Ice-T is unquestionably in the former faction. The “Power” singer made it apparent that he won’t be leaving the franchise anytime soon, stating that his only worry right now is “going into season 28.” “This year they said, ‘Ice, we’re gonna work you a little less.’ Everything was cool with me, I understood. I said, ‘Are you getting rid of me?’ They said, ‘No way. We can’t imagine Law & Order without you,” he reminisced.
He has made appearances in fifty percent of the eight episodes of the current season of SVU that have aired thus far, compared to Giddish’s six cameos. Ice-T, Giddish, and NBC representatives have been contacted by Entertainment Weekly. Dick Wolf, the producer of the Law & Order franchise, declined to provide further information.
“I’ve been on this show for 27 years. I’m not gonna say nothing negative about that show. They’ve taken care of me for so long, so I just wanna get to season 28,” he said, adding that the downtime has even had the positive effect of freeing him up to work on other projects: “I’m a hustler — you give me some free time, I’ll find a free dime.”
