Kevin Spacey claims that after years of legal disputes depleted his income and halted his career, he is now effectively homeless and hopping between motels. The former A-list actor says Hollywood is still blacklisting him despite his 2023 acquittal on allegations of sexual assault. Nevertheless, Kevin Spacey has started to gradually re-enter the public eye through acts and an appearance at the Cannes Gala, when he bemoaned the industry’s persistent dismissal of him.
The two-time Academy Award winner, who was found not guilty in 2023 of sexual assault accusations against four men in the United Kingdom, claims that his career has been hard to come by and his earnings have essentially stopped. Spacey said in a recent interview with The Telegraph that he was compelled to leave his long-term residence in Baltimore, Maryland, where he had spent more than ten years, and that all of his possessions are now stored.
“The costs over these last seven years have been astronomical,” he said. “I’ve had very little coming in and everything going out.”
Spacey went on to say that his current circumstances are strangely similar to those of his early career. “In weird ways, I feel I’m back to where I first started, which is I just went where the work was,” he told the outlet.
The actor added, “Everything is in storage, and I hope at some point, if things continue to improve, that I’ll be able to decide where I want to settle down again.” Although Spacey maintained that he never filed for bankruptcy, he acknowledged that his financial circumstances are “not great”.
Spacey claimed that he has always believed the public has never completely turned against him, despite his banishment from Hollywood. “I have always felt the public was on my side, and understood what had happened, and were not buying into things that they were reading,” he said. “And I have always been enormously grateful for that.”
