What to Watch This Weekend (14-11-2025 – 16-11-2025)

Bored this weekend? Your date hasn’t arrived yet? Cancelled plans? Here’s a watchlist for those who don’t have anything to do.

Now You See Me 2

In Now You See Me: Now You Don’t, the Four Horsemen return to perform additional tricks and destroy the corrupt 1%. The original Four Horsemen, portrayed by Jesse Eisenberg, Woody Harrelson, Dave Franco, and Isla Fisher, are followed in this Ruben Fleischer-directed movie as they band together with a new generation of magicians to take down a global criminal network. Additionally, Freeman makes a comeback in the role of retired magician Thaddeus, who once assisted the Horsemen.  Critics termed this movie as preposterous, but it makes the viewers enjoy their own messy and crazy universe. Their preposterousness is their selling point.

The Running Man

It commences in a dystopian future, in the appropriately titled Slumside, wherein ardent blue-collar employee Ben Richards (Glen Powell) is appealing for severance pay after being dismissed for standing up for a coworker. Powell’s infant is sick, suffering from the flu, but health insurance costs are skyrocketing, and Powell just cannot afford the basic healthcare that the child will require. Paramount Skydance’s new adaptation of Edgar Wright’s The Running Man bridges the gap between the 1980s picture and King’s novel. It sticks far closer to the original content while consciously — but not always effectively — imitating the earlier film’s narrative style.

 One Battle After Another

Bob (played by Leonardo DiCaprio) is a paranoid, drug-addicted revolutionary who dwells off the grid with his energetic and independent daughter, Willa. As both father and daughter struggle with the fallout from their pasts, the former radical rushes to find Willa after his wicked foe reappears and kidnaps her. He is forced to reconnect with his past and everything that went wrong. This film, which is about rebellion and unhappiness as well as the lonesome bravery of not fitting in, is made even more intriguing by the fact that these concepts are currently exceptionally out of style in the US.

Drop

Violet, a widow on her first date in years, is portrayed by Emmy nominee Meghann Fahy, rising star of White Lotus and The Perfect Couple. Violet is relieved that her match, Henry (Brandon Sklenar from It Ends with Us) is more attractive and charming than she anticipated. However, as a series of anonymous drops to Violet’s phone start to annoy and eventually frighten her, their chemistry starts to deteriorate. The hooded individual she sees on her home surveillance footage threatens to kill Violet’s small kid and babysitting sister if she doesn’t follow commands and tell no one. If Violet doesn’t follow instructions, everyone she cares about will perish. What was the last order from her invisible tormentor? Murder Henry. Don’t we all love the saga of the invincible entity who is controlling the world of shadow? If yes, then this one is for you

The Studio

Cringe is the new normal and the facet of satire. The Studio by Seth Rogen is a heartbreakingly humorous Hollywood satire. As the recently recruited head of Continental Studios, Matt Remick and his executive team must balance corporate needs with creative aspirations in order to keep films alive and relevant. Remick is yearning for celebrity acceptance. Seth’s character narcissistically interferes in every decision that has nothing to do with him because he simply adores films and earning millions of dollars. Isn’t it relatable and quirky? He reminds you of your beloved boss, doesn’t he? But, this is not ‘ew’ cringe; it is ‘oh’ cringe, that gives the series a new dimension of satire and jesting.

Japanese series come under the category of overtly underrated but extremely heartwarming. As part of a new initiative, teacher Makino, a former paediatrician at a university hospital, now works in an elementary school health room. Despite being harsh and severe with students, his keen observational abilities enable him to identify problems early on, saving children, their families, and even other educators—all while concealing a more complex reason for his transfer.  I found the series more endearing since Dr Makino’s interactions with the children helped him develop personally, in addition to as a physician. There is no chance that the viewers, should miss this series because this is a hidden gem.
