Robert Pattinson is famous in the Twilight fan community for his dislike of the Twilight franchise. He claimed in several interviews that he had held back his laughter during the shoot of the scenes. But here, comically enough, it seems like he is eager to return to the series. From 2008 to 2012, Pattinson played the enigmatic vampire Edward Cullen opposite Kristen Stewart as Bella Swan in five popular films based on the Stephenie Meyer book series.
In a recent lie detector discussion for Vanity Fair, Pattinson, who costarred with Jennifer Lawrence in Die My Love. Jennifer asked whether he would seriously think about playing Edward again, 13 years after saying goodbye to the franchise with The Twilight Saga: Breaking Dawn Part 2. “Oh, yeah, for sure,” responded the actor.Â
Lawrence was visibly shocked at this answer, but it should be noted that the actor extended his sincerity by saying, “It would be great. I like taking jobs off younger actors. I want to play 17 again.”. The lie detector showed that Pattinson was telling the truth, even if his tone suggested that he might be jesting.
Jennifer Lawrence reacts to Robert Pattinson saying he would return for another ‘Twilight’ movie during Vanity Fair’s lie detector test.
However, the actor has returned to big-budget films in more recent years, making appearances in Tenet (2020) and, of course, The Batman (2022). Pattinson is not opposed to returning to massive series, and this includes more Twilight, as The Batman: Part 2 has been confirmed for release in 2027. But, there is currently no news of the Twilight franchise being rejuvenated for a movie. Stephenie Meyer did confirm that she is actively engaged in penning down two new ‘Twilight’ books. But it should be advice to the fans not to keep their hopes up.
