Lately, Angelina Jolie acknowledged that she doubted she would ever sing again after hearing scathing remarks from a former partner. The Oscar winner said that she was afraid of performing in the new biopic “Maria,” in which she plays renowned opera singer Maria Callas, because one of her ex-boyfriends had some negative things to say concerning her voice. The Hollywood Reporter released the interview on Friday.
When Jolie talked about finding her voice again in the upcoming movie, she remarked, “It was an out-of-body experience because I don’t sing. I had somebody in my life who was not kind to me about singing. It was a relationship I was in. And so I just assumed I couldn’t really sing.” She furthermore added, “I’d been to theatre school, so it was weird that it even had an effect on me.I just kind of adapted to this person’s opinion. So it took me getting past a lot of things to start singing.”
Although Jolie did not name the specific ex that had voiced concerns, the actor was well-known for being married in a number of well-known unions. From 1996 to 1999, she was wed to Jonny Lee Miller, her co-star on “Hackers.” She married colleague actor Billy Bob Thornton in 2000, but the two divorced in 2003. After meeting Brad Pitt on the filming of 2005’s “Mr. & Mrs. Smith,” she later wed him in 2014. But in 2016, Jolie announced her intention to divorce Pitt, citing insurmountable differences.
Right now, Jolie and Pitt are involved in a protracted legal dispute. When Jolie filed for divorce, the conflict first arose over child custody, but it quickly escalated into a contentious argument about their French winery.
