The highly anticipated fourth season of Apple TV+’s immensely successful soccer comedy is almost here. Deadline has learned that Warner Bros. Television has taken up the possibilities of the three distinct cast members under contract with the UK acting union Equity. They are Jeremy Swift as President of Football Operations Leslie Higgins, Brett Goldstein as hardman Roy Kent, and Hannah Waddingham as AFC Richmond patron Rebecca Walton.
The studio will need to strike new agreements because, after landing the three, it is anticipated that it will begin contacting Ted Lasso cast members whose contracts had expired and who had SAG-AFTRA engagements. creators/executive producers Jason Sudeikis (Ted Lasso) and Brendan Hunt (Coach Beard) have been thought to involve Juno Temple (Keeley Jones). One of the original Ted Lasso characters, Jamie Tart’s Phil Dunster, was not chosen, most likely because of a scheduling problem; he currently appears on Apple’s Surface and Prime Video’s The Devil’s Hour.
The cast has stated time and time again that they would be pleased to return to their characters if the opportunity arose, so it’s uncertain which other stars might be contacted regarding Season 4. Several would probably stop by to make cameo appearances. Early arrangements for the creation of a writers’ room are also being produced, in addition to reaching out to the cast. A fourth season that aims to begin production in early 2025 may go ahead if all the pieces fit together. WBTV and Apple TV+ representatives have chosen not to respond.
The fact that the studio would not have moved forward without the approval of Ted Lasso’s primary propelling force, both on and off screen, and Jason Sudeikis, is a sign that the Season 4 greenlight procedure has begun.
As the creator of the character in NBC Sports videos, Sudeikis has always held the key to Ted Lasso’s destiny. Executives from Warner Bros. and Apple have stated that it would be entirely up to Sudeikis to decide whether or not to renew Ted Lasso, one of the largest and most renowned comedies of the last ten years, although they have shown a desire to do so. Notwithstanding the comedy show’s huge popularity, the former cast member of Saturday Night Live, who co-created Ted Lasso with Hunt, Joe Kelly, and Bill Lawrence, maintained the original concept for the three-season plot arc. However, he had not closed the gate to more Ted Lasso, which is why Season 3 was left unfinished, pending the discovery of the ideal concept. To the surprise of Ted Lasso’s admirers, it appears that this has occurred more than a year after the Season 3 finale.
