Disney unveiled the live-action Snow White movie teaser at the D23 Expo this last weekend, and it is causing a ton of internet criticism. On the official Walt Disney Studios YouTube channel, the Snow White trailer has received almost 900k dislikes compared to just 56k likes. A number of browser extensions allow YouTube’s dislikes feature to be enabled again.
Disney recently announced a one-year postponement of the movie, coinciding with Zegler’s criticism of Snow White, stating that it’s strange, that she doesn’t enjoy the initially released animated picture, and that she believes Prince Charming is a stalker. Many of the comments bemoan the casting, the CGI, and the fact that authentic dwarfs weren’t used.
“No dwarves were hired during the making of our film” reads the top comment, which has received 9,000 likes. “It’s all CGI, and they call it Live Action. Weird,” adds a second user who has 400 likes.
Another user also added, “Personally I just wish they’d leave the older classics alone. Not just Disney but the ENTIRE entertainment industry. I’m tired of seeing remakes. Stop being lazy, and make something original.” “Snow White and the Seven CGI Abominations,” comments a fan.
Disney’s Snow White is a forthcoming musical fantasy film in the United States that Marc Webb is directing. Greta Gerwig and Erin Cressida Wilson wrote the screenplay. The live-action version, produced by Walt Disney Pictures and Marc Platt Productions, is a retelling of Disney’s 1937 animated feature Snow White and the Seven Dwarfs, which was based on the Brothers Grimm’s stories “Snow White” from 1812. Gal Gadot plays the Evil Queen in the movie, and Rachel Zegler plays Snow White.
