With an important advancement in the production, Henry Cavill’s upcoming great magical adventure is getting closer to being released on the big screen. Filmmaker Chad Stahelski has stated that filming on the reinvention of the beloved sci-fi romp set in Scotland will begin in early 2025. The director recently provided an upbeat take on the remake in an interview with Collider. “We start shooting in January in Scotland, that’s why I go right after I leave,” he stated during the Mediterranean Film Festival in Malta. “I go to Scotland on Monday to do the final location scout.”
We have the right people, we have the right cast, we have the right trainers,” he furthermore stated, “so it’s more about how do you bring it all together and make it something. It’s not Princess Bride, it’s not Crouching Tiger, it’s not Master & Commander, it’s not Zorro. What’s this new look of action or sword fighting that people could be excited about? That keeps me up at night.”
Although little has been discovered about the new Highlander, it is assumed that it would be based on the initial concept of an ageless Scottish swordsman sent to save humankind. The first film, starring Christopher Lambert as the title Highlander, Connor MacLeod, hit theatres in 1986. After becoming a popular film, there were animated films, comic books, TV series, and other film sequels in the franchise.
