Jesse Plemons, known for roles in films like Killers of the Flower Moon, addressed the ongoing comparisons between himself and Matt Damon during a recent TV appearance.
“Still not Matt Damon,” Plemons joked on the TODAY show, after host Craig Melvin mentioned that his wife had initially confused Plemons for Damon while watching a movie.
Plemons acknowledged that the comparisons have been happening for years. “There are worse things to be called, for sure,” he said. “Throughout my career, I’ve had various Matt Damon-associated nicknames.”
His co-star Emma Stone playfully suggested “Emily Damon” as one such nickname, referencing her own name preference discussions.
The actor has previously addressed the resemblance, noting in a 2021 interview that fewer people were calling him “Meth Damon,” a nickname he got from his role in Breaking Bad.
Plemons recently played along with the comparison on Jimmy Kimmel Live!, where he was jokingly mistaken for Damon, Kimmel’s mock rival.
While Plemons finds the comparisons flattering, he told Kimmel he doesn’t really see the resemblance himself.
The ongoing mix-ups show no signs of stopping, but Plemons seems to be taking it all in good humor.
