Vincent D’Onofrio, who plays the villain Kingpin in Marvel shows, isn’t sure if his character will ever meet Spider-Man in a movie or TV show.
Speaking at a fan event in Boston, D’Onofrio explained that it’s complicated because of agreements between Marvel and Sony about Spider-Man characters. “It takes a long time for them to figure out who’s doing what and where,” he said.
D’Onofrio has played Kingpin in several Marvel shows, including Daredevil and Hawkeye. He will return in a new Daredevil series on Disney+ in 2025.
Charlie Cox, who plays Daredevil, confirmed he will voice his character in an upcoming Spider-Man cartoon. But D’Onofrio doesn’t know if Kingpin will be in it.
This is because Kingpin has been a villain for both Daredevil (owned by Marvel) and Spider-Man (partly owned by Sony). Sony used Kingpin in their Spider-Verse movie, so they might not let Marvel use him in cartoons.
The actors also talked about their roles in other Marvel shows. Cox appeared in She-Hulk and Spider-Man: No Way Home, while both he and D’Onofrio were in the recent Echo series.
The new Daredevil show, called Daredevil: Born Again, will have 18 episodes and bring back other actors from the original Netflix series. It’s set to premiere in March 2025 on Disney+
