Actor Shiloh Jolie-Pitt has asked a court to remove “Pitt” from her name. The 18-year-old is the daughter of famous actors Angelina Jolie and Brad Pitt.
Shiloh filed paperwork on her birthday, May 27th, to become Shiloh Jolie. Her parents divorced in 2016 but have not finalized details. They are also fighting in court over a winery business they co-owned.
This isn’t the first time one of Jolie and Pitt’s children has distanced themselves from the “Pitt” name. Earlier this year, Shiloh’s 15-year-old sister Vivienne dropped “Pitt” from her name in a Broadway playbill. And last year, eldest daughter Zahara introduced herself as Zahara Marley Jolie when joining a college group.
However, Shiloh is the first to legally file for the full name change. She previously did voice acting work in the animated Kung Fu Panda 3 movie.
The name change request comes as Jolie and Pitt’s divorce case continues. Jolie claims Pitt attacked her and two of their children on a plane in 2016. Pitt denies the allegations.
After a custody battle, Pitt got joint custody in 2021. The actors have sued each other over disagreements about properties and businesses they owned together, like the Château Miraval winery in France.
