Sam Taylor-Johnson, 57, and Aaron Taylor-Johnson, 33, first met on the set of their 2009 movie “Nowhere Boy.” They have now been married for 12 years and have two daughters together.
Sam recently spoke to The Hollywood Reporter about the attention their marriage gets, largely because of the age difference between them. “There are times where it’s uncomfortable,” she said. “Most of the time we try to keep our private life private.”
The couple first got together in 2009 while making the film “Nowhere Boy,” where Aaron played a young John Lennon. “We were very professional during filming,” Sam recalled. “But everyone on set knew. And as soon as we finished, he told me he was going to marry me. We had never even been on a date or kissed.”
Aaron proposed to Sam just one year after they met. They tied the knot in 2012 in Somerset, England, and now have two daughters: Wylda Rae, 13, and Romy Hero, 12.
In a recent interview, Aaron said he never understood the fascination with their relationship. “What you gotta realize is that what most people were doing in their twenties, I was doing when I was 13,” he told Rolling Stone UK. “What speed are you supposed to enjoy life at? It’s bizarre to me.”
Despite the attention, the couple seem very happy together. In March, Aaron paid tribute to his wife on her 57th birthday, calling her an “exceptional woman” and the “most wonderful doting mother.”
