Andrew Scott, the actor who played the “hot priest” in the popular comedy show Fleabag, has joked that fans who are still watching the show years after it ended need to find better things to do with their time.
The show, created and written by Phoebe Waller-Bridge, was on TV for two seasons. Andrew Scott’s character became a favorite with the viewers. The show was widely praised for its writing, acting, and the story of the relationship between Waller-Bridge’s character Fleabag and Scott’s priest.
In a recent interview, Scott, who was recently praised for his role in the drama film All of Us Strangers with Paul Mescal, was asked what advice he would give to viewers who are still “stuck” on the show. Scott joked that they should “stop watching, stop crying, stop crying in your room with the curtains closed” and instead “do something better with your life.”
“It’s a great show, we all loved it, but come on, get it together,” Scott added. “Open the curtains and go outside.”
Scott made these comments while promoting his new Netflix show Ripley, where he plays the con man character Tom Ripley, based on the book The Talented Mr. Ripley.
Fleabag won an award for Best Comedy Series in 2019. Both seasons of the show are available to watch on BBC iPlayer.
