The famous stuntman and actor Steve-O recently shared that he turned down an invitation to appear on Bill Maher’s podcast. The reason? Maher refused to stop smoking marijuana during their interview.
Steve-O, who has been sober for almost 16 years, values his sobriety above all else. He explained on his own podcast, “Wild Ride!,” that staying clean and sober is extremely important to him and his recovery.
According to Steve-O, when the team from Bill Maher’s podcast reached out, he requested that Maher refrain from smoking pot during their conversation out of respect for his sobriety. However, Maher declined, which was a deal-breaker for Steve-O.
The 49-year-old stuntman expressed surprise at Maher’s refusal, stating that other podcast hosts, including Mike Tyson, have always accommodated his request to avoid marijuana smoke during interviews.
Maher is known for regularly smoking during his podcast interviews and has been a long-time advocate for marijuana legalization. However, footage has resurfaced showing Maher respecting singer Sheryl Crow’s wishes by not lighting up during her appearance.
Steve-O has been open about his past struggles with addiction, stating that he has tried almost every substance except heroin. He believes that overcoming addiction has made him a better version of himself.
The stuntman remains at peace with his life and career, having achieved so much as a daredevil entertainer. As he puts it, “The body is not a temple. It’s meant to be ridden until the wheels fall off.”
