Jacob Elordi nearly lost out on the major breakthrough role in “Euphoria.” “Euphoria” co-star and “Rustin” titular character Colman Domingo, the “Priscilla” and “Saltburn” star disclosed at Variety’s Actors on Actors show that he “completely blew” his audition for the widely popular HBO series directed by Sam Levinson. Before the “Euphoria” audition, he ” was living in my car [..] for about a week or so,” Elordi claimed. “That was my last one before I was going home to kind of take a debrief.”
Elordi added, “I went in and I fudged my lines. I was like, ‘Does anybody know Jules, know who she is? Does anyone know Jules?’ Completely blew it. And then Sam asked me back and then I read with him two or three times.” When Domingo inquired about Elordi’s feelings after being cast, he only said, “euphoric.” Elordi previously acknowledged that, following the completion of the 2017 Netflix film “The Kissing Booth,” he nearly gave up acting. Later on, the movie spawned into a trilogy of films. Regarding his notoriety from “Kissing Booth,” Elordi reminisced, “It felt like, all of a sudden, I was a poster. Like I was a billboard. It felt like it was for sale. Then my brain went through the fucking wringer. Like, I wasn’t sure if I was genuine. It really skews your view. It creates a very paranoid way of living.”
The actor also revealed that he declined to try out for the role of Superman in a GQ feature article. “That was immediately, ‘No, thank you.’ That’s too much. That’s too dark for me,” Elordi remarked. About striking a balance between independent films and massive franchises, he said, “one for them, one for me.” “That one’s a trap as well because it can become 15 for them, none for you. You have no original ideas and you’re dead inside. So it’s a fine dance. My ‘one for them,’ I’ve done it.” Jacob Elordi tells the tale of his initial attempt at trying out for #Euphoria: “I went in and fudged my lines. I was like, ‘Does anybody Jules know who she is? Does anyone know Jules?’ Completely blew it.”
