Akin to a case that surfaced in July, composer Danny Elfman has been charged of sexual harassment by a second woman. A woman identified as Jane Doe XX claims in a new lawsuit, which was filed on Thursday in Los Angeles Superior Court, that the musical director of “Edward Scissorhands” assaulted her from 1997 to 2002, beginning when she was a 21-year-old film student.
“A spokesperson for Elfman said, “The allegations of misconduct made against Mr. Elfman are baseless and absurd. His legal team is assessing all options and he will vigorously defend these claims in court.” an Elfman spokeswoman stated. According to Jane Doe XX, Elfman and she had a mentor-protegé rapport until Elfman started to undress and show off during their sessions. She was spending time with him at the Mercer Hotel in New York early in their relationship. He undressed completely and stood in front of the window, according to the claim. Then, she claims, he forced her to do the exact act.
The suit said she hastily put her garments back on after feeling uncomfortable. The suit claims that the following time they encountered each other, he stripped off once more and demanded that she witness him take a bath. According to the lawsuit, this started to happen frequently throughout the following five years. Elfman would take his clothes off “until he was completely nude, and walked around nude in front of Plaintiff, exposing his genitals. Defendant Elfman expressed to Plaintiff that this was the only way he could work, be creative and successful.”
After relocating to Los Angeles, Jane Doe XX frequently went to see Elfman at his house. The suit claimed that she would spend the night in Elfman’s bed, frequently lying above the covers while he was unclothed and wearing her clothes. This, she stated, had occurred around forty times. After learning of the affair’s termination, Jane Doe XX felt “shock, humiliation, and shame.” When she later alerted people in Elfman’s circle about the incident, she claimed she was told there was little she would be able to do because of “who he is.”
After learning that pianist and composer Nomi Abadi had made similar accusations against Elfman for actions in 2015 and 2016, she decided to come forward. Despite receiving a $830,000 settlement, Abadi filed a lawsuit against Elfman earlier this year for not paying the entire sum. Abadi’s allegations have been refuted by Elfman, who asserts that their sparse encounters were “fully consensual” and that their relationship was impersonal.
