In 2016, OnlyFans was launched and rapidly became well-known as a website where users could access NSFW content. Celebrities who have adopted the website include Chris Brown, Tyga, Bella Thorne, Cardi B, Denise Richards, and Tyga. Drea de Matteo, an actress most known for her role on The Sopranos, defended her decision to upload explicit material on the membership site OnlyFans by saying, “ “People find that hard to believe that I was never really paid very much money for any of the jobs I’ve done. People think I’m f***ing made of gold, and I’m not. I’ve worked job to job.”
De Matteo reported to Fox News Digital that her personal choice to join was motivated by the need to care for her children above all else, a production halt during the epidemic, and what she claims is a loss of business as a result of her averse to vaccination attitude. She stated, “Things have changed in the last three years. My kids have always been my No. 1 focus. I’ve turned down tons of jobs in the past just to be with my children because their dad [musician Shooter Jennings] is on the road, and he’s not around as much.”
De Matteo is realistic when it comes to criticism of her work on OnlyFans from others. “I just don’t care. I don’t. I’d rather save my family than save face,” she said. “I know some people have said some nasty things about me having joined OnlyFans. But, you know, the way we see it in this house is mommy’s a warrior, not accepting defeat.” It was highly likely that we would lose. She claims that at age 51, her agency dumped her, and as a result of her vax position, she struggled to find employment and nearly lost her house as a result. She remarked, “I guess you could say I was a bad girl because I did not follow the rules a couple of years ago. So, I don’t want to be at the mercy of mandates or strike or anything like that ever again.”
