An old interview featuring Malaysian actress Michelle Yeoh has resurfaced and is gaining popularity. During the interview, which originally aired in 1997 on “Late Night with David Letterman,” Yeoh referred to Jackie Chan as a “male chauvinist pig.” The comment was made while discussing Yeoh’s role in the James Bond movie “Tomorrow Never Dies.”
During the 1997 interview on “Late Night with David Letterman,” Michelle Yeoh was asked if the reason she chose to do an action film was because of Jackie Chan. Yeoh replied that it was not, and went on to say that despite being good friends with Chan, she considers him a “male chauvinistic pig.” Yeoh explained that Chan holds the belief that women should stay at home and cook, and be the victim, but added that he exempted her from that belief because she would “kick his butt.”
The comment has now gone viral after the actor recently opened up about how Chan saved her life during a stunt while filming Supercop. In case anyone is unfamiliar, Jackie Chan gained popularity in the 1980s through his action-packed films. Similarly, Michelle Yeoh also gained recognition in Hong Kong through her action films. The two have collaborated on numerous movies, such as the 1992 film “Supercop,” in which Yeoh praised Chan for rescuing her during a stunt.
Yeoh was recently named Time magazine’s Icon of the Year. She has been praised for her work in films like Shang-Chi and the Legend of the Ten Rings and Everything Everywhere All at Once.
