VFX artists have expressed great disappointment at Marvel Studios for their terrible conditions and stringent deadlines. In a new Reddit thread, artists have called out the company, citing exhaustion and frustration. The allegations were detailed on a Reddit thread, titled ‘I am sick and tired of working on Marvel shows!’ Several artists shared stories about why working with Marvel left them exhausted and disappointed.
Dhruv Govil, a former VFX artist employed by Marvel Studios, is speaking up about the poor working conditions that greatly disappointed the VFX community. Marvel has seen some recent criticism when it comes to VFX after the release of the trailer for Disney+’s She-Hulk: Attorney at Law. The looks of the character received a polarizing response on social media because many fans thought that the CGI work in creating Tatiana Maslany’s alter ego was extremely subpar.
If this is a result of some of the VFX team being overworked then that’s something that should be addressed. I’m sure receiving online criticism about their hard work doesn’t help matters and that’s especially true if they’re doing the best they can under poor working conditions.
One person wrote in the Reddit thread, “Marvel has probably the worst methodology of production and VFX management out there. They can never fix the look for the show before more than half the allocated time for the show is over. The artists working on Marvel shows are definitely not paid equivalent to the amount of work they put in.”
VFX artists are now refusing to work with the entertainment giant, with many calling the company the “worst VFX management out there”. The allegations came from a Reddit thread, where supposed artists who have worked for Marvel spoke about their experiences. The thread was titled “I am quite frankly sick and tired of working on Marvel shows!”
