Although The Batman is still in its first week of release, various leaks regarding what might happen in the sequel have already surfaced. According to a new source, Anya Taylor-Joy, the renowned actress from Lady’s Gambit, could star in the second portion of the film to play Harley Quinn.
According to the Giant Freakin Robot blog, his team received word from reputable sources that the actress was in talks with the production to play the villain in the film. However, neither Batman director Matt Reeves nor Warner Bros. have said anything about it, so we’ll have to wait to learn more.
It’s also worth noting that Harley Quinn’s appearances on stage have virtually always been in tandem with the Joker. If that’s the case, the latter should be confirmed as the main antagonist in the second half of the DC film.
Despite the fact that his appearance has not been confirmed, social media users speculated that Barry Keoghan could play the Joker in The Batman 2. Robert Pattinson, for one, does not rule out the possibility of appearing in a sequel and even stated in an interview with Vanity Fair that he would prefer members of the Court of Owls to be the antagonists in the next film.
Anya previously portrayed Elizabeth Harmon, an orphaned chess prodigy, in Netflix’s drama miniseries “The Queen’s Gambit,” and Gina Gray in BBC’s criminal gangster drama/historical fiction series “Peaky Blinders.” Notably, Margot Robbie played Harley Quinn in the DCEU previously, and fans are questioning if Anya Taylor will be able to fill her shoes.
