Guardians of the Galaxy Vol 3 will signal the end of the current team of Guardians, James Gunn has confirmed. As work on the Marvel sequel continues, director Gunn has revealed that Vol 3 will act as a swansong for the likes of Star-Lord, Nebula, Rocket, and Groot.
Since Marvel has infested itself so much in fame, something of this manner is now a sensation. Gunn further said, “This is the end for us,” he set out, saying Vol 3 will be “the last time people will see this team of Guardians”.
Teasing a shift in tone for the film, which is scheduled for release next year, he continued: “It’s big. It’s so, so big and dark and different from what people might be expecting it to be.
“I just want to be true to the characters, the story and give people the wrap-up that they deserve for the story. That’s always a little bit scary, [but] I’m doing my best”Admitting that he’s feeling the pressure to deliver with the third Guardians title, James added: “I’m aware that the third film in most trilogies sucks – not always.”
Speaking earlier this month, James Gunn offered another insight into how the third Guardians film is going, saying that both he and Marvel are “really happy” with how things are turning out.
“I think that I’m really happy. I gave a bunch of scenes to Marvel right before Christmas break… They were all really, really, really stoked. But also, it’s not going to be the movie people– it’s different than what people are going to expect,” Gunn warned. “It’s a hard road, but I’m really happy with it so far.”
