Kristen Stewart has admitted that she said yes to the role of Princess Diana even before she had read the script. And she has candidly opened up about her upcoming Spencer film.
Here is a brief synopsis, The Prince and Princess of Wales’ marriage has long since grown cold. Though rumors of affairs and a divorce abound, peace is ordained for the Christmas festivities at Sandringham Estate. There’s eating and drinking, shooting and hunting. Diana knows the game. This year, things will be a whole lot different.
“He called me on the phone,” Stewart said during a conversation at the Toronto International Film Festival, according to IndieWire. “At first I hadn’t read the script yet and he proposed this idea and said he was doing this sort ofweird tone poem about Diana, and asked whether or not I would be interested in tackling the subject at all – before he sent the script.”
“Kind of without thinking, very irresponsibly, I said ‘Yes, absolutely,'” Stewart recalled. “I could have totally fucked it up.”
The film mainly focuses on Princess Diana and her activities as she spends her time with the royal family, during the Christmas holiday. It also focuses on the apparent nature of the marriage between Prince Charles and Diana, and finally the separation and divorce.
During the Toronto International Film Festival, she recalled the conversation she had with director Pablo Larraín and how he pitched the idea to her, and even before reading the script she took the job.
It indeed is a complex and sensitive subject with many secrets hidden safely within the royal family. But what little is known to the general public and those who witnessed these events firsthand certainly would be surprised by the grain of truth in this film.
Kristen Stewart said that she felt elated and taller when she was in Princess Diana’s character and even claimed to have felt her presence.
